Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want my students to be "college ready" by the end of the school year. The biggest challenge is that 99% of my students are from a low socioeconomic background. They cannot afford a graphing calculator which is needed to pass the AP Exam. Chances of passing this test without a calculator are reduced by 50%.

My students are sons/ daughters of Latino immigrants and live in a low socioeconomic part of the inner city.

99% of them qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Most of them are the first generation in their families that will enjoy the opportunity to go to college and better themselves. My students are eager to learn and are excited to graduate high school. One of their dreams is already coming true. They are respectful, responsible, and willing to take a challenge. My school is a place where all students feel welcomed, cared for, and part of our community of learners. Our main goal is to get all students ready for college. Our staff strives everyday to accomplish that goal. We believe that all students are able to learn. They just need an opportunity to shine.

My Project

Graphing calculator are fundamental for learning Calculus and my students do not have access to these tools. My goals is to provide a high quality education to my students so they are able to learn higher level by having access to graphing calculators.

Nowadays, technology is fundamental for deeply understand some mathematical concepts; therefore, I would like for my students to have access to those tool in order for them to be successful in the mathematical learning procedure.

Also, I would like my students to pass the AP Calculus Exam and a graphing calculators is fundamental to learn concepts such as areas between to curves, derivatives, and limits.

I know my projects is small, but I know it will bring tremendous result in many students' life as well as in my community.
