Help With Hygiene Products For Our Elementary-Aged Kids
My students need hygiene products: deodorant, bandaids and soap. Many of them are living in temporary housing, and are living out of their duffle bags.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a low-income school in the Belmont neighborhood of Bronx, NY. The majority of my students are academically and emotionally challenged and suffer from trauma and poverty. As a result, they exhibit depression, anxiety, and exhibit aggressive behaviors on a daily basis. Their parents and caregivers are also struggling and aren't always able to provide their children with the tools they need to even have a chance of success. A large number of our students are living in temporary housing and are traveling over an hour each way just to get to school.
I would love to be able to provide them a cool and inviting office space for them to relax cool down both physically and emotionally.
As a school counselor, students come to my room when they are upset, and feeling guarded and ashamed. I would love to be able to provide them a cool and inviting office space for them to relax cool down both physically and emotionally.
My Project
Our school is located in the Bronx. Many of our students come to school from shelters or crowded housing. We are requesting hygiene supplies so I can supply them with deodorant, soap and tools to learn to be cleaner.
With these items, hopefully, they can start to feel good about themselves.
So many of them are struggling academically, and b/c of their housing situations, parents cannot even send them to school, b/c of appointments. Finding time to get these items is not a priority. When they smell, they are also ostracized by their peers. Anything that we can do to make them feel good emotionally, will hopefully have a long-lasting impact on these kids who didn't ask for this situation.
