My students need 16 calculators. Most can't afford them and it is difficult to perform basic classroom operations without them.

My Students

Many of my students can't afford to buy the necessary calculator (basic scientific) that is necessary for the class.

My school is an inner city school with more than half of its students on free/reduced lunch.

They are good kids and have a lot of pride. Many don't want to admit they need help with basic classroom supplies. Calculators are a necessary need in the high school classroom.

My Project

With the requested calculators, my students would be able to learn the necessary skills needed to be not only successful in the class room but also help them to be successful on the state/college assessments. Currently they have to share with a partner which does not guarantee that they will obtain the necessary skills.

With every student having the opportunity to have a calculator, it would give them an even playing field for success.

After learning the basic skills on their calculator they would feel more comfortable with assessments.
