This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

For some kids, just sitting still takes a monumental effort.

Many of the students I work with fall into the above category.

As a special educator, I have the privilege of working with a variety of students in the intermediate grades. Many of my boys and girls are brilliant and extremely capable -they just can't sit still and focus long enough to hear an entire lesson or finish their independent work.

My Project

This proposal requests 2 different types of sensory tools, proven to help students with the proverbial "ants in their pants" to relax and concentrate in class. The pressure of the weighted snakes will help students to slow down and relax, while the tactile stimulation of the finger fidgets will help students to focus on their work.

These tools seem so simple, and yet I know that they will have a huge impact on my students.

I want to give my learners everything that they need to succeed. Together, we can make sure that happens. Thank you!
