Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in the Bronx, New York. My vibrant, special needs students live in a low-income area and our school lacks resources. However, the kids are an eager and willing group and they yearn to learn!

My Project

My classroom is very low on pencils. The school doesn't send a supply list since we are in a low income community. Students come to schools without pencils! I am happy to buy them occasionally but my own personal budget is not that big.

It is January and we are almost out of pencils and we have 5 months until Summer!

We do math problems on white boards and the students use expo markers to write. The markers dry out over the course of weeks. These markers make math more fun than using pencils on paper.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
