Help me give my students adaptive swings in our school playground. Every year we have multiple students with disabilities that are not able to swing. Help our school accommodate all student needs!
Our students have a thirst to learn but not always the supplies they need to be successful! As an activity teacher, it is my job to teach all grades from PK until 5th grade.
My most recent DonorsChoose request is one for students with special needs out on the playground!
I am looking for my students to have the best resources possible- inside and outside of the classroom!
My Project
Our school is one that offers many equal opportunities for all students. However, we are lacking in one area in particular: the playground! Our numerous students with special needs do not have an area in which they can swing.
Help us to fund this project of bringing adaptive swings to our school!
The swingset that we have chosen is one that can be adored for years to come. The swings are commercial grade with metal chains so they will stand the test of time. The frame will feature two swings: one for students with less mobility and one for students who can begin to learn how to "pump" their legs and swing themselves.
Our city does not offer many handicap-accessible playgrounds, so many of our students with special needs are rarely (or never) given the opportunity to swing. Our school is also a Title I school, meaning that our students often come from homes that struggle financially. Our school is a refuge and "home" for many of our students where they can receive equal opportunities and resources. Help us complete our school's desire to be all-inclusive!
