My Students

My Adapted Physical Education class is a place of excitement but also a challenge for my students. The students attempt to learn new skills to the best of their ability.

My students have autism and often struggle with physical activities, but will always try their hardest to participate.

We have 42 students ranging in ages and class sizes (6:1:1 and 12:1:1 ratio) that will always put forward their best effort. The goal I have for my class is to teach our students activity skills that they can use outside of school to lead a healthy lifestyle.

My Project

As our students get older they are looking for new skills to learn and participate in. I would like to implement a step aerobics unit into my lessons.

My goal is to teach my students skills that they can use to build and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

We have very limited equipment in my school and unfortunately do not have funding for the APE department to order new equipment every year. With the new equipment we are asking for, our students will learn step aerobics skills that they can practice at school and transfer the skills to home. The new playground balls will be used to replace older equipment during "free-choice" time that our students "work for" during each class period.

All of these items will go a long way towards helping my students to build a healthy and active lifestyle.
