My Students

Can you imagine being really smart, but unable to show how much you know? My students are really bright, but often need reminders to stay on task, and frequent movement breaks to stay focused.

Our school is a project based alternative K-8 in Washington with a significant population of students who receive Special Education services or may just need a little extra classroom support to make big gains in their learning.

We have fabulous teachers and students who are inspiring in so many ways. We have a completely inclusive academic program for our broad spectrum of learners, which is unique to our school and embraced by staff, students, and parents alike.

My Project

My students are 6th-8th-grade special education students who are served in the general education classroom. They have a variety of learning, attention, social, and sensory needs.

We need several anti-distraction tools- from reminder watches to sensory friendly seating to help my students stay focused in the general education classroom.

We need surf desks and wobble stools to give us a variety of seating options. We need ReVibe reminder watches to help us stay on task and remind us to take brain and movement breaks- without a teacher having to tell us what to do. These tools allow us to be more independent in the classroom and keep us from looking too different than our peers.
