I am a third-grade teacher. I have a wonderful group of students! They are constantly impressing me with their hard-working attitudes, amazing work ethic, and overall positive outlook on life. I am so proud to be their teacher. They deserve the best education possible.
I teach at a rural, Title I school serving approximately three hundred students.
Every child receives free breakfast and lunch. We are located near a large military base and, as a result, serve children of active duty and retired military. Our school serves students from many socioeconomic backgrounds including homeless students, who at times may live with family friends or other relatives.
Our students are bright and eager to learn new things. They are hard workers and strive to make their world a better place.
My Project
This project is filled with some wonderful items to boost learning in my third-grade classroom. I am a huge fan of this year's school theme- nautical! To begin with, I am requesting items to help make the room more inviting, and positive for the students. I am requesting items such as a decorative fish net to hang up and show off student work, a small nautical rug to see as you step in, and nautical themed incentive charts. I plan to use these to track attendance. I want to promote perfect attendance this year as one of my personal goals.
I will offer incentives for weekly, monthly, quarterly, and entire year perfect attendance.
I am also requesting pencils to go along with this theme. I plan to give these out at the open house with some beach balls this year. I want all students- no matter academic ability or background, to feel excited, welcomed, and eager to learn, starting with the first day they feel like third graders. In this case, Open House at the end of the summer is a huge deal to meet students and families. Students are diverse, and so are their needs. While this project is requesting decorative room supplies, it is also requesting practical items to also be used throughout the year.
One subject I really love teaching is reading. Two aspects of reading are teaching character traits and text structure. I would love to use these posters this year. to really help visual learners. For Math, it is CRUCIAL for students to learn their multiplication facts as soon as possible! I am requesting two types of posters to help build their fluency. Finally, a wireless doorbell is being requested to help with transitions and time management. Thank you for your support.
