Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work at a STEM magnet middle school in Indiana. This means that my students chose to come to our school to learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
My 7th and 8th graders come from all around the city to form a community where we focus on our core values of rigor, community, relationships, and drive.
My students come from diverse cultures and experiences, and some overcome significant obstacles to succeed at our school. In their two short years with us, they come in as young pre-teens and develop into teenagers prepared to flourish in high school!
My Project
I am requesting some of the most essential resources to keep our class running like a well-oiled machine! We are in need of lots of posters paper which we use to show what we've learned. The students create their own anchor charts to clarify their understanding as well as teach other students. We need command strips to hang our beautiful creations! We use a lot of "mood" lighting to set the tone of our classroom and we need three extension cords to be able to place those lamps in the perfect spots.
Though this might not seem like the most spectacular project, it really does help us to keep doing our important work on a daily basis!
