Help me give my students some new copies of The Last Book in The Universe! This particular set of books has been used for at least eight school years, and the wear and tear is beginning to show.
This project expired on July 3, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
I have found that I have a number of students that really appreciate digging into the novel sets that we have available. In the second year of splitting up the English classes in our school, we have been able to focus more on Literature and Writing individually.
I serve about 125 seventh-grade students, and the majority of them come from a rural background.
Here at Tipton Middle School, we're striving to make sure that our students have the opportunity to become the best students they can. Having new books will allow us to continue this process.
These students would greatly benefit from some new novels--we have spent a lot of time fixing books in class, and new copies would allow us to replace the ones that are falling apart and refocus that time in the classroom.
My students really enjoy the opportunity to dig into their novel unit, where we read "The Last Book in The Universe". Unfortunately, we have spent almost as much time fixing and repairing books as we have actually reading them.
I'm asking for help in purchasing 75 copies of The Last Book in The Universe, so that we can replace copies that are falling apart!
Reading is so much easier and efficient when you don't have to spend time repairing books!
This will allow us to spend more time in discussion, facilitate more efficient classroom dialogue and understanding of the novel -- time we might be spending finding/repairing/putting back together damaged novels.
