Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Resources are the only thing holding back my seventh and eighth grade inventors this year. These kids are creative young designers with outstanding ideas just waiting to bring them to life.
Our new STEM magnet school is full of young engineers and scientists.
The inner city students are limited in their experiences but marked with bounding imagination. Their problem solving abilities continue to astound me, and I am proud of the way they overcome their limitations and show growth with each new design challenge.
My Project
This year we have begun implementing a course in inventing. Our bright and enthusiastic students are learning to problem solve and create prototypes through the invention process. The duct tapes, glue guns and magnets will be used in creating their prototypes. Donations of presentation boards, and markers will bring our students out of the classroom and enable them to actually compete in the Connecticut Invention Convention, where display boards are a requirement.
My students don't have access to many building materials or art supplies.
Your support will help students directly by inspiring them to create in color, and proudly present their new inventions.
