Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students range in ages from 9 to 13. Many are not fortunate enough to have technology in their homes. They come from hard-working families and from countries around the world such as Yemen, Spain, Africa, Honduras, China, and France, just to name a few. Their families live paycheck to paycheck.

My students enjoy reading.

I teach two classes, and one of them is an ESL class. The majority of the class is learning to read and write in English.

My Project

During this pandemic, our lives were turned upside down. As we prepare to get back into the classroom, we need as many supplies as possible. Having as many supplies available with help reassure us of our health and safety. Many of our buildings are old and dust is a daily struggle. These supplies will help us stay clean. Having all the wipes handy will help keep our hands clean and during this time that is very valuable. We also need our masks to wear during the day. Many times the one we have on breaks and having extra in class is truly beneficial for us.

We all have much to worry about over the course of these past few months; however, a student's focus should be on their academics - not their health.

Having these cleaning supplies on hand would give us the opportunity to put some of the nerves at ease as we plan to enter back into the school building. Keeping the classroom clean would reassure students and parents that our lives are a priority. Staying clean and safe during these times is something we value very much.
