My Students
I teach students in Pre-K through Grade 2 in a Title I, New York City public school.
Despite the circumstances of a school year filled with disinfecting wipes and masks, my students are having the best time learning and exploring different types of art materials.
Each day we have fun through singing art songs, videos, and books. Unfortunately, it is difficult to get the funds for the many materials we need in our classroom due to budget cuts.
Many of my students come from low-income families and do not have the resources and tools that will allow them to explore and express their creative talents to their full potential.
You can help make a difference in these children's lives. I want to build excitement and a love of art that will continue with my students throughout their lives.
My Project
Having the ability to hold onto something you have created and share your accomplishments with your family is an amazing feeling.
My students want to bring their work home to show their families.
If they complete an assignment on the computer, they will need to print it in order to share it with their loved ones.
My students will be able to take their work home and continue working on assignments that sometimes take longer than one class period to complete. Seeing their completed projects in color will bring smiles to their faces.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
