Help Us Make Our Learning and Creativity Three Dimensional
My students need a 3D printer to become creators and inventors themselves instead of the consumers of the creations of others.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my computer lab all have different learning abilities. They are energetic, curious and are enthusiastic about learning. They have a real hunger for knowledge and really enjoy my technology class. They are very excited about being able to create what they are currently learning in class on a 3D printer.
Because we are a Title I school in a low-income neighborhood with a large population of special needs and English language learners, my students would benefit from having a creative tool to help make learning fun and real.
Most of our students don’t have access to technology at home. I would like to expose them to technology in an innovative and engaging way to reach all types of learners. Afterall, what's a computer lab without a 3D printer?
My Project
3D printing technology will allow the students in my computer lab to become creators of many projects related to all curriculum areas. Instead of consuming the creations of someone else, they become the inventors. 3D printing allows students to become creators by using cutting edge technology to visualize and create their own imaginations, not to mention the growth students will experience in their spacial reasoning skills and 2D to 3D conversion understanding. 3D printing is still a very new technology that is not readily available in public schools.
3D printing makes learning opportunities hands on, creative and can surely engage students who are reluctant learners.
Learning about ancient societies? Design and print a model of a mummy or a pyramid. Learning about land forms? Design and print a peninsula or a mountain range. Learning about natural disasters? Design and print tools to protect you during a disaster. Learning how to code with robotics? Design and build add-ons and challenges to your coding projects. Learning about animals? Design and build an animal. These are many of the things my students are currently learning in my computer lab as well as in their classroom. I would love to use the printer with my students so that they can use their creativity to make what they are learning into a reality. In addition, our science, art, math and music teachers can benefit from using this printer with their classes as well. The possibilities and curriculum integration are endless for all our teachers and students.
