My students need a total of 15 ukuleles. By having this project funded this will allow us to share the instruments! I am hoping to be able to obtain more as the year progresses!

My Students
The children in my classroom consist of a very diverse population. They come from multiple socio-economic backgrounds, have academic challenges, learning differences and some children have very extreme family dynamics. In addition, many are new to the country and English is their second language. However, what they all have in common is the desire to learn and to be successful! With so many differences the need to teach in new, exciting, and creative ways has become more and more essential. Guitars in the Classroom is the answer!
My Project
These ukuleles are going to make curriculum for accessible!
After taking my first set of ukulele lessons I was hooked!
I felt a spark that I hadn't felt for awhile. I felt recharged and excited about being able to implement this program into my classroom this fall. I see this as a fantastic way not only to incorporate music into the Common Core Standards, but to help build a strong classroom community that will be learning through music and learn how to care for and respect an instrument. This may be the first chance some children have had to actually care for something!
