My Students

I teach fifth grade reading in one of the best rural schools in Oklahoma! My students are a diverse group with varied levels of learning. Our classroom is a space where students enjoy coming to learn. We are a Title I school with the majority of our students receiving free lunches.

These students have huge hearts and love to learn in non-traditional ways, such as room transformations, integrating the arts into our lessons, and project-based learning.

My students have curiosity, creativity, compassion, and positive attitudes. They are truly amazing people. My school is wonderfully supportive of the active hands-on learning that we do in our classroom. I couldn't ask for a better learning environment for these students. We are truly a community!

My Project

We are asking for your support to purchase hygiene, home care and food products to make and deliver packages to homeless students and their families in our community so they can stay clean, fed, healthy and happy!

We believe that supporting our local homeless and disadvantaged families will give them strength to have a better day and better life!

We need food items to include in our care baskets to distribute to homeless students and their families. We have included a variety of food such as mandarin oranges and pineapple, fruit leather, ICE drink bottles, pasta, macaroni and cheese, pop tarts, snack bars, tuna pouches, veggie chips, nut packages, chili, and soup. These are all things that the children can prepare quickly and easily. We included dishcloths and dish towels to help them with hygiene and food preparation. We also included basic hygiene items such as shampoo, conditioner, brushes, lotion, soap and deodorant. We included pain relievers and hand soap to help with daily needs. We even added some candy that we will put in drawstring bags to give the kids an added surprise! We want our students to be able to feel good about being clean, and have easy meals and snacks to help curb their hunger so that they won't have to worry about hygiene and health when coming to school.

We will use the batteries for flashlights that we have already collected to include in the baskets. We will be putting together packages and making cards that contain inspirational messages to instill belief in the less fortunate that they are valuable and they deserve basic necessities!
