My Students

Imagine that you want to find a certain book, but the shelves are so crowded that you can't find it. Imagine that you finally find a book you want to curl up with, but the only place to sit is the hard chair you've been sitting in all day... Welcome to my classroom!

I have a diverse group of 75 fifth graders(in three classes)from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

My students are creative, sometimes mischievous, and lovers of reading. They love to get up and move and play games. They are starting to really develop their own personalities and traits and are excited/nervous about getting ready to go to the middle school.

My Project

For this project, I am asking for some materials to make my classroom library more inviting and functional. I want my kids to desire library time as a fun and exciting time. I want them to be able to find the books they are looking for and have a comfortable spot to enjoy them. For these reasons, I am asking for a display shelf where I can showcase certain books that pertain to our current interests and studies, as well as a few bean bag chairs to make our library more comfortable.

I believe it is important to inspire a love of reading in our youth and I feel that these materials will help me to achieve that goal.

Reading can open students minds to new worlds and ideas. Let's inspire a love of reading to last a lifetime!
