My students need 5 portable DVD players to watch educational DVDs during small groups or when they are finished with their work. They also need headphones and DVDs.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember your favorite activity as a child? In this day and age it seems that kids favorite activities involve video's and technological devices. Therefore, if I want to reach my students throughout the school day, I have to find educational activities that will keep them engaged.
My students are in kindergarten and first grade.
They have disabilities including but not limited to Autism, specific learning disabilities, developmental delays and speech and language impairments. Our school is located in a rough area of South Los Angeles were the majority of students come from very low income households.
My Project
How many times have you heard that sitting a child in front of a television will keep them entertained for hours? Well I would like to keep my students entertained with a media they enjoy, however my entertainment will be with educational DVDs. My students' will definitely not be sitting in front of the DVD player for hours on end. My students need as much small group instruction as they can get. In order to do this, I work in small groups and would like to ensure the independent center is getting educational learning time. With these DVD players and DVD's and headphones, I can be assured that my students will learn and reinforce lessons in a fun and entertaining manner. These DVD players will help reinforce letter sounds and counting. A portable DVD player will engage my student's during independent learning center times.
Technology has touched us in almost every aspect of life, so it is not surprising that children love technology as well.
Having these DVD players will ensure that my students are touched by technology and will aide them in their academic success
