This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing, intelligent children trying to find their way in a brand new community. Most of my students are attending school in America for the first time this year!

My students are battling against all odds to create there own successful future.

Students in my class are learning to speak English everyday by fully integrating with the American culture. Although my students have a way to go before they are fluent English speakers, they are working together to make progress everyday. 100% of my students speak Spanish, with the majority of them coming from the Dominican Republic and South America.

My Project

Books are an essential material in the classroom. Unfortunately, not every classroom is created equal. Currently, my class experience shared reading as we do not have independent reading books on my student's level. Having a classroom library of books will excite my students and encourage them to practice their reading.

These are low-level books that my students can access.

Although we are a fourth-grade class 100% of my students are reading below grade level. These books will give my students an opportunity to read independently and feel successful. Beginning at level A, these books will give my students the stepping stones they need to move level one letter at a time.
