My classroom is filled with active five and six-year-old children. They have active bodies and active minds. Kindergartners love to move and have a passion for learning about the world around them! That movement is necessary for their development. Many of my students come from unconventional homes and receive support from the state or community. My students are a diverse group with each entering the classroom with experiences to share and learn from. That diversity is what makes us unique and a special asset to our learning community.
My Project
This project will be used with our class during our W.I.N. time. This stands for What I Need time. Our school has set this time aside for our students to learn through play exploring with hands-on activities. This LEGO set will allow the students to work together solving problems programming the train.
Coding Express is a solution that introduces young learners to early coding and critical 21st century skills, while naturally sparking their curiosity, creativity and desire to explore.
Make your train pause, stop, change direction, sound the horn, and more! Taking the familiarity of a train and combining it with the new action bricks, early learners will learn through play about sequencing, looping, conditional coding, and cause and effect by placing the new action bricks within the train’s track. Each action brick creates a specific action allowing for students to test and redesign ways to problem-solve and work together to get their train to its destination.
