My students need to improve their reading levels. Learning sight words is the first step to improving their reading. Learning through games and puzzles will motivate my students to keep reading.

My Students

My students are in grades 4, 5 and 6 who attend an inner city school. They come from poverty stricken families and families with unstable emotional backgrounds. For most of these students, school is the only portion of their day where they feel safe and free to express themselves.

My students are learning to understand how important school is to their future.

All of my students are on IEPs and have an uphill battle ahead of them. They come to school with smiles on their faces and a willingness to succeed.

My Project

My students are all on IEP's and are all struggling readers. Most of my students are missing some of the key foundation pieces to being a good reader. Using games, puzzles and other fun activities like flash cards will help my students become motivated to improve their reading levels. Learning their sight words fluently and accurately will help them be a successful reader. These matching games and puzzles will make learning fun and exciting. The Pop Game and Sight Words Bingo game will be great beginning steps. For those readers that have mastered the sight words, the inferencing cards will help them with comprehending what they are finally reading.
