The books will help my students engage in reading while getting lost in an adventure. Students will be able to read and enjoy the stories as well as grow their word base. Students will use these books to gain comprehension skills as well as fall in love with reading. Students will be able to escape the world they are living in by diving into a book that takes them on an adventure through a story. These books are fun and engaging for students in the second grade.
Having these books will help students fall in love with reading and crave a new adventure every time they pick up a book.
Students will be able to have book clubs and discuss what they are reading and the trips they are taking in their mind. Books that are engaging will help students build reading confidence. My students are special because they come from a low income area. They go to a school that is part of a set of center school where they only go to school with second and third graders. This is special for them because they will go to school with the same group of students every year and they will build knowledge and bonds with each other because of this.
Some of the goals I have for this project are that students will become engaged readers and in turn will be lifelong readers. This is important for students because they need to have a good foundation in reading to be the best student they can be. Reading good engaging books will build the foundation for lifelong learners and readers.
