Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students attend school in South Los Angeles where 99% of the school receives free or reduced price lunches. More than half of the fourth grade students are learning English as a second language and 90% of them come from Spanish speaking homes.The students this year are excited and eager to learn new concepts and I would love to give them the opportunity to make real life connections. It is for such reason that I would like to give them the opportunity to experience a sit down lunch with the King and Queen and their brave knights.

My Project

We are in need two buses to accommodate 72 fourth graders that will transport our students to the school and back to Medieval Times in Buena Park and compare the past with now. Medieval Times has such a powerful message, especially when seen in person. Our students have done half the work, they have fund raised for their entrance tickets and now we need two buses.

Why just read about our past, when we can be part of it!

Please help make a lasting memory in these students. I want to give these students the opportunity that they haven't had and in which many of their families will never be able to provide. Most of the students have never been outside their neighborhood, and have never experienced all the emotions of seeing it up close and personal. With schools having such a heavy focus on ELA and Math, let's make this a priority.
