My students attend an urban school composed of minority students who received free and/or reduced lunch. My students are second graders whose reading levels range from kinder to fourth grade. There are also students who have very few, if any, books at home, making it very difficult for them to read at home. Parents work very late and don't have the time to take their child to the public library. Due to this, I want to provide the students an opportunity at school and in their own classroom to choose a book at their level and interest I know my students have the potential to succeed. They are eager to read more books, build their fluency and at the same time work on their comprehension, but we need your help. Our library has become smaller through the years, and I don't have a big variety or different level books to provide these eager minds work with amazing students who just need to find books of their interest and of their levels to get them started in reading.
