Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a school in a high poverty area, my students face some unique challenges. The school where we are located is considered a Title I school and 71% of the student population is on free or reduced lunch. My classroom is both a gifted and ESOL classroom, so we face the challenge of enriching and providing support to many different types of learners.

The students and their families are committed to academic excellence; they are hard working and driven to make sure their students are getting the most out of their education.

My students come to me every day eager to learn and ready to participate. They love challenges and learning new things! The students love anything technology based, and I want to try to incorporate as much excitement in their learning as possible.

My Project

My students are the absolute best. Throughout this pandemic, they have shown me how invested they are in their education. I want to reward them by incorporating more games into my classroom. One of the things that I noticed this year, was a deficit in our fact fluency. My students will do anything to work on this skill, but why make them skill and drill with flashcards when we can play instead! Thank you for considering our project! I would love to surprise them with this at the beginning of the year!
