This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 4th graders in an inner city school in New Jersey. I love my job and find it to be one of the most rewarding feelings when I can change or influence one student's outlook on something. This year, I have 21 students from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and neighborhoods. I have 11 students who have special needs in my classroom. It would greatly benefit my students to have headphones that would help eliminate the daily distractions that take place in a classroom.
My Project
My students need headphones to help promote silence and relaxation when reading silently, working on their chrome books or completing their independent work.
We need a set of headphones so that we can enable the sound on our chrome books to help us with our fluency and listening skills while using various learning websites and our annual Parcc exam.
It is my hope to continue to build a classroom where students are not stressed and frustrated. Frustration can take away from learning. The headphones will block out any outside noises and help us concentrate, and in turn, lower the frustration level for many of them.
