This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The fourth-grade students at my school are enthusiastic learners who have just begun to learn about technology. Our school is a charter school that serves many students who come from an economically disadvantaged background. For many students, school is the only place they have access to a computer.
We are trying to teach them how to use computers in their daily lives, so when they leave elementary school they have the 21st-century skills needed to succeed in high school, college, and beyond.
In order to allow the maximum use of the computers, our students need quality headphones so they can work at their own independent pace. We try to give the students an opportunity to explore many different educational websites. With their own set of headphones, the students can better focus on their work.
My Project
My students will use headphones in the course of their technology and academic instruction. The headphones will make it easier for my students to use the Chromebooks that we have at school. They use these Chromebooks daily because we want our students to have skills necessary to succeed in high school, college, and beyond.
Before this school year, our classes had to split a small number of computers through the entire school, which meant that the younger students got minimal time on computers.
Many of the younger students are unable to type a simple sentence quickly which is something we are working hard to change!
