This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My bilingual, smart, talented, and capable first graders are coming back to school after a difficult year due to the global pandemic.

My first graders are kind-natured and want to see each other succeed; they lift each other with supportive and encouraging compliments.

100% of my students live below the poverty line, and more than 50% do not have any books at home; their love of reading is growing each day as they receive new books in class.

My Project

This rug will provide flexible seating that my students need in our classroom. Last year, we were not able to use a rug in our classroom and students were sitting most of the time 6 feet apart from each other.

Our rug will be used during whole group instruction which will be used during our literacy, math, science, and social studies.

By the rug having different circles in the design, I will be able to provide assigned seats for students and to keep the distance required due to the global pandemic.
