The students in the FHS Theatre Department create, design, perform and produce up to 7 plays per school year. It is their home, their safe creative space, and their place to be themselves. Many students take theatre all four years of high school.
A typical theatre season includes a full-length Shakespeare play, a musical, something classical, something avant garde, and a healthy helping of student-written work.
Many of our students have gone on to study the theatre in college, and have had careers in the performing arts.
We experimented with using projections for our scenery last fall. The effect was nice, but the small classroom projector wasn't quite powerful enough.
This projector should have the power we need to make an impact!
Scenic projections are the latest in theatre technology, and we are always trying to stay on top of the next great thing, improving the quality of our tech theatre program for all our students. In the end, projected scenery is faster to change, cheaper to build, and creates the effect desired, using 21st century tools. All our students are digital natives. They just need the right tools.
