This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember the first time you got to check out a book at the library. I couldn't believe that I could actually take this book with me and not have to pay for it. Well, most of my students do not have the pleasure of going to the library so I would like to make books available to my students.

My students are from low social economic areas in the city.

Most of them have parents that either work two jobs or are from a single parent household. The parents want for their children to succeed very much but are limited on time. That is why I would like to have a library at our school so the students will be able to check out books that they are interested in reading. Also, I know this will help them to better their reading skills.

My Project

My students will be able to check out a book that they are interested in reading. They will be able to take it home and read it to themselves or maybe a younger brother or sister. In this way, I know that the student will foster a lifelong love of reading and also will help any younger siblings to also follow in their footsteps.

I am so excited to be able to get books for my students.

I have let them pick out some of my personal books to read and they are so excited to read a book of their choice. I know this will help their reading skills improve and will help them on a path of a lifetime of learning through reading.
