My Students
My students love learning in different ways. My classroom is full of eager learners who have many different learning styles. I have many students who are English language learners. Many of my students are visual and tactile learners. My students love learning new things and creating things to show what they learned. They like to share what they have learned with other classes in our school. Science and social studies are the subjects that my students love the most.
My students also love using technology to increase their learning and to share what they learned.
My students continue to amaze me every day with their knowledge and love for learning.
My Project
In 2nd grade, we learn about fiction and nonfiction books. We spend the first few months of the school year on fiction books and then move on to nonfiction, and then we switch back and forth throughout the rest of the year. My students love to read nonfiction texts. We have some in our classroom but not enough.
I am asking for Gail Gibbons and National Geographic books to show my students different types of nonfiction books.
Nonfiction books can be very different in their styles. I want my students to be able to identify when books are nonfiction and why. Gail Gibbons' books look like they could be fiction but are actually nonfiction. National Geographic books are very traditional nonfiction books. These books have lots of text features that my students can use as models for their own nonfiction writing. Having my students exposed to more nonfiction books will help them grow their knowledge of nonfiction and be able to learn more facts about the world around them.
