Our students are largely from a nearby Indian Reservation. We are a school with 100 percent free lunch. Students attend a very small school with 7 grade levels and two teachers. They remain with the same teacher for 3-4 years. When students graduate from our elementary school they must travel a total of 2 hours on a bus per day to attend the closest school for 7-12th grade. Because our school is so small and remote, these students have frequently not had the advantages that students attending a larger school would have including an up-to-date library and appropriate kindergarten equipment.
Students at our school are arranged in multiple grade levels of K-2nd grade and 3-6th grades. While I work with one grade level, another grade level uses technology to hone reading skills. We would like 7 Chromebooks and a charging station to allow students to use technology to practice reading and math skills. Students rotate from teacher and aide to computers for lessons and practice. Computers are a fun and proven way to increase student reading and mathematics outcomes.
We have a small classroom with limited space to arrange and charge computers.
We're asking for computers and a charging station to help us maximize learning.
