My Students
Hello! My classroom is filled with both special education students and general education students in our Title I school. My students don't necessarily have extra materials or resources at home, so they are very appreciative of the ones we have inside the classroom. This school is in a low-income area, filled with children with many different needs, but seeing them have the opportunity to have these amazing materials from DonorsChoose is truly a blessing! A large percentage of our students have special needs, are English Language Learners, and have emotional disabilities; these materials will really help students explore! Thank you in advance for helping add to the success of our classroom!
My Project
Having timers, pencils, pencil sharpeners and Ziploc bags will help my students be independent during center activities. They will be able to teach their own groups. The timer will help them with time management in collaborative groups and during stick it activities. Each group will have a leader that manages the time, their own materials in the bags and pencils to keep track of their group's work. Students will be participating in collaborative group activities where they come together to decide upon a best answer adding in everyone’s initial answer. This will help them build on ideas and expand on their knowledge. Stick it activities will be done twice a week and centers will be done on a daily basis so these materials will be utilized daily.
