Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 7th grade ESL teacher. My goal is to help students become proficient in English and prepare them for the competitive world outside our school walls. I am working to engage students and reduce student absenteeism. My students have many goals and dreams, to become future leaders in this world, doctors, lawyers, teachers, nurses and more. This all starts here at our school with a good educational foundation and strong language skills. Your donation can help to build this foundation and help our students to succeed!

Our 7th grade students are hardworking, newcomer and beginner level ESL students who are eager to learn English!

They come from different countries all over the world and all have the common goal of becoming proficient in English and being successful students and citizens. These students live in a low socioeconomic status community and most receive free or reduced lunch. These students could greatly benefit from the use of Chromebooks in our classroom.

My Project

This project is designed to meet the needs of a group of students who are currently disengaged in school. I know they are disengaged because they are failing two or more classes and have a high rate of absenteeism. Our students need Chromebooks and licenses to use various educational programs and resources which help them to practice and increase their English language skills and remain engaged in the classroom. Students will use Chromebooks to read books on RAZ Kids, learn new vocabulary on Quizlet, practice writing and grammar skills, and learn and practice math skills on MobyMax, do homework, create online projects and much much more! These Chromebooks will help students to be more engaged in the classroom, grasp concepts better and learn and prepare for a future in a technology filled world. Students will learn and practice valuable technology skills along with important information, that will help them to compete in this competitive global economy. Most of our students do not have access to computers and technology at home and could greatly benefit from the use of computers in the classroom.
