A typical day in the classroom consists of meeting with 3 ELA classes, preparing formative assessments and doing group and individual work to prepare them for college and career. "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go".
Our students are 6th grade students who are a blend of high ability and gifted learners.
The school is in a rural community where there is a large percentage of low-income families. Students have high ambitions when it comes to their education and their future. Our students are inquisitive and eager to learn and understand the world around them.
We will be reading The Book Thief and completing a study on Historical Fiction. These books will act as a guide and our number one resource for this study. Students will be able to learn valuable information about this genre as well as the World War II time period.
The donations will improve our classroom by providing further materials to teach and help students understand not just Language Arts but the connections to History and Culture that our students may not be exposed to otherwise.
