Help Us Complete our Projects

My students need a netbook computer and a digital camera to complete their projects.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Surfing the Internet is an everyday occurrence for most. In this day and age of technology, can you believe there are still students waiting for over half an hour just to open up the home page to an Internet site? Well, there are twenty five of them sitting in my room. Please help to make a change.

My school is in a low income neighborhood.

Our population is very diverse, with about sixty percent Latino, thirty percent African American, and ten percent other. The school population receives ninety-seven percent free lunch. The students in my school are from low socio-economic backgrounds, but, they are eager and willing to learn despite the great odds that face them everyday. My students are hungry for knowledge and I would like to give them access to the world wide web; I cannot, however, do this without the your help. These knowledge hungry students lack access to basic resources that stimulate learning, such as books and dictionaries. Giving them computers will allow them to access these resources.

My Project

My students will be using the camera and computer to take pictures of class projects and post them online at the school website for their parents and others to view. They will be able to use the computer to type their work while learning how to surf the Internet for information to help them complete their projects. These students will be learning how to use the Internet to communicate with other schools in their district and region. They will get the opportunity to learn the basic functions of a computer. The knowledge of Microsoft Publisher and how to use it will let them create cover pages, include graphics in their work, and type their work for publishing. Computers will be an asset to their education, something they can take with them from here to college.

This project is important to me because it will help me to incorporate technology into the curriculum.

My fifth grade class needs computers to help them with their work. These students need to be using computers and cameras, this project will help me to teach them how to use these modern technologies. My aim is to give my students a well rounded fifth grade education and without the knowledge of computer and knowing what is a power point presentation would make it complete.
