My Students

I teach in a very economically challenged building. We are 96% free or reduced-price lunches. These students have very few social situations or experiences to draw upon referring to schema when we study topics in our classroom. They are very hard workers and want to learn as much as they can each time.

My class consists of 25 third graders whose skills range from 6th grade levels down to pre-k.

We do many projects in groups or partners so we can learn from each other. These kids learn as much from each other as they do from myself. They are a very street smart group of kids.

My Project

My students need help getting materials home to their parents. We pass out tests, papers for community events and communication letters and they are often left inside their desks. I am hoping with the help of these mailboxes it will help the children stay organized and get the papers home better.

Many other teachers and I as their teacher send papers home with the students that get put into their desks and lost forever!

Help these papers get home too. Our parent involvement is low in our building and I feel that a part of that reason is our communication. By having this system it will help them keep organized and help parents and teachers with their communication!
