There is so much beauty in math. It is all around us - especially in nature. I want to bring math to life in my classroom. Several of my students do not have access to technology or printers at home and are unable to print their assignments and projects. Kayla, Jasmine and Anthony suggested submitting a project for a color printer. They would like all their peers to have the same opportunities as other children - to be proud of their work and to be able to print their creations at school in COLOR.
Donating to our student led project will give my students access to a color printer which will help to bring their work to life.
They would like to share the beauty of math in nature and in art and a color printer will do just that for us.
This project will help my students to develop their feelings of empathy and teamwork for their fellow classmates. Thinking of others, who do not have the same advantages as they do will make them better members of society. Always pay it forward!
This project will bring math to life. Having a color printer will inspire their creativity in math class. Several of my students are very creative, but are not strong in math. Showing how math is seen in nature (Fibonacci) and in art (Escher) will make a connection for them. Math class does not have to be bland and boring. It can be beautiful and perhaps this will help to open their hearts to math.
In Their Own Words
The goal we are trying to accomplish is to have access to a color printer in the classroom. A few of us do not have a printer at home and we would benefit from having a color printer in the classroom. Ms. G would love to do more nature inspired math activities with us and the color printer would definitely be perfect for those activities.
Well, Ms. G has had several projects funded, but she wanted to give us, the students a chance to come up with a project that would help the class and to make math more fun. Brainstorming, collaborating, and working together made this a fun experience. Each of us made a contribution to make this project as successful as it can be.
This project is important to us the students and our community, because not having the materials we need in our classroom puts us at a disadvantage. We love art and this color printer will help us to share with others how math can be fun and beautiful instead of being a dry boring subject. We want to teach other students to enjoy math instead of thinking its scary and hard.
