"Our greatest natural resource is in the minds of our children."- Walt Disney. The biggest challenge I have in my classroom is keeping active children in their chairs during lessons. Wobble Chairs allow active children to learn by letting them move around without disrupting the rest of the class.
Our students are bright, energetic, and ready to learn.
They love to help each other and are great friends, despite the circumstances they might have at home. The school atmosphere is loving and supportive, always making sure that the students have what they need through community support. However, the budget is limited so we support our students with the materials we have in the best ways that we can. The students love learning by discovery, and so at our school we foster this type of approach through wonderful music and art classes. The students are thirsty to learn all that I have to offer them, and so I am constantly thinking of ways to make their school experience better, both academically and emotionally.
My Project
Imagine being an energetic child full of life and ready to learn. In a typical classroom setting, many students are told that they need to sit still and be quiet during all academic instruction. In my classroom, I feel that students should be comfortable to learn in the way that is best for them. The Wobble Chairs will help my students who need to constantly move around feel more comfortable while allowing the rest of the class to learn. I can better foster their academic growth by giving them a tool that helps them stay in their seat, and, at the same time, burn extra energy that they desperately need to burn. This is especially helpful coming into the winter months, as our school is in an area that gets an abundance of snow and the children will not be able to run outside for at least 3 months.
This donation will help make our classroom a better place for all learners.
With the active students sitting in Wobble Chairs, the other students will not be distracted and will be able to focus on learning. The biggest difference this project will make is with our active learners who will feel much more comfortable in the classroom by being able to move around in their chairs. Increased comfort will result in increased learning which is beneficial to all learners.
