I am the quiz bowl coach for Morehead City Middle School, as well as the AIG (Academically and Intellectually Gifted) Specialist. I have a wonderful quiz bowl team that has captured first place in our division for the past 2 years. Our team consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. We anticipate over 50 students trying out for our 05-06 team, with the final team consisting of 12 - 20 students. They are VERY enthusiastic, and love any challenge they can get! We would like to participate in the Knowledge Master Open during the 2005-2006 school year. This is an international, online quiz bowl competition. This year over 800 teams from around the world participated. This past year was our first experience with this competition, and we improved greatly from the fall to the spring competition. However, our goal is to improve even further! Our actual playing season is limited, so we try to participate in other quiz bowl opportunities as well. We are asking for funding for two rounds of competition (fall and spring), as well as a two practice disks to help us prepare.
