Kindergarten students love to dig deep and get a little dirty, while growing and learning in our school garden. My curious kindergarten students enjoy observing and exploring the outdoors, rather than just learning within the four walls of our classroom. It is such a thrill to see their eyes open wide with joy when they see the seeds they planted grow into little sprouts that emerge through the soil.
The specific items I am requesting in this garden project will help with soil fertility, and allow the healthy soil to provide all the needed nutrients for our seeds to grow into hardy plants.
The Miracle-Gro raised bed soil, PRO-MIX soil, perlite, worm castings, and bone meal, will help to ensure that our plants receive the environment that they need to successfully grow and thrive. The Miracle-Gro fertilizer, along with the organic liquid seaweed and kelp fertilizer will allow our classroom to provide fertilizer to the plants over the spring, summer, and fall months. We will use the cattle fencing to allow our vegetables to grow vertically, and add more space to grow in our elementary garden. We will use the seeds to grow vegetables for our classroom, our school lunch program, and our home food backpack program for students who need food support over the weekends. The seed warming mats will help us germinate the seeds.
