Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year, I have 20 energetic, young learners in my third-grade classroom -- some scholars are reporting to the school for in-person instruction, while others participate in remote-only instruction. Despite the challenges that the pandemic has placed on us all, our guiding principle remains the same: to help each and every learner reach his/her highest potential.

It is the key not only to success in life, but it is the key to meaning in life." Ninety-one percent of our students at our school receive free- or reduced-price lunch; this program benefits those children who are most in need. For example, a family of four making $30,000 annually will qualify for the program (130% of the federal poverty level). According to studies, "growing up in poverty is one of the greatest impediments to a child’s cognitive development and his ability to learn."
At our school, we strive to find ways to overcome this challenge by encouraging our children to dream BIG!
My Project
This resource will enable more efficient and effective curricular planning; with a "gold" membership -- rather than the current "free" version that I have -- I will easily be able to insert the many wonderful interactive tools available on Nearpod into my lessons. Since December, we've incorporating some of the basic features of Nearpod into our instruction, and each and every time, scholars are more engaged than ever before. To my surprise, our more reticent learners were active participants on Nearpod.
This instructional tool will truly support those learners who need accommodations to access the grade-level material.
For example, Nearpod's integration with Microsoft's Immersive Reader allows students to access text-to-speech as well as translation: this particular tool will greatly help those third graders who are still struggling with decoding.
