My students need puppets and a puppet stand to create their own stories and act out stories they know.

"At a time when policymakers are attempting to convert the preschool years into basic training for school...fantasy play is the essential, irreplaceable curriculum of the first years of life...we stand in risk of establishing a culture where the heart of childhood is left out." -Howard Gardner
My students are enthusiastic, hardworking, and lovable.
They attend a Title 1 Charter School where 98% qualify for free or reduced lunch. At kindergarten, our classrooms are labeled with college pennants and my children are known as the Texas Longhorns, to get them excited about being future college graduates. My students work hard from 7am to 5 pm five days a week.
I am requesting a puppet stand with a few sets of puppets so my children can create their own stories and act them out for their peers. I believe fantasy play is crucial in the early childhood classroom. I believe creation and imagination is the cornerstone for learning. My students will also be able to act out familiar, well loved stories, which will increase vocabulary and comprehension.
My project is so important because my children LOVE stories.
They love hearing stories and creating them. They love acting out stories their friends tell and engaging in role plays of best loved children's stories. I want to provide them with the materials to further their creativity and love of literature.
