My students are worth getting up at 5 am everyday, teaching all 23 of them for ten hours a day by myself (they are FIVE years old), and not getting home until after 6 pm. They are joyful, respectful, and so excited to climb the mountain to and through college. They LOVE to learn and work very, very hard. My students are often labeled "at risk." If they did not attend the low income public charter school where I teach, statistics say 1 out of 10 will make it to college. They go to a school where teachers and parents believe and expect more from them. They are expected to "Work Hard." and "Be Nice" and to make it to and through college.
