Bringing the joy of music to a lower-income neighborhood is the best part of my job. I work for a middle school in a high needs part of Southern California. Our students all receive free lunch and breakfast. Even though the school and community have financial difficulties, my students come to school excited to learn music.
Our school is slowly reestablishing its music program after not having anything for over 8 years.
They are excited and hopeful students who seek out opportunities to feel wanted and why not share that with music. Music is a big part of our neighborhood and school community and I wish to grow that for the years to come.
I am a 2nd-year teacher developing a music program and I need to grow our music library for the future. These books will be beneficial for my students to perform for all events and teach them the importance of film and patriotic music. Having students join music this past year has changed the school's interest and spirit. Not only has the school's community become closer but students are taking an interest in music and they are developing many lifelong friends.
The most important thing for my students is to educate them in all areas of music and develop well-rounded individuals.
The music that we are looking to get will not only prepare them for their upcoming concerts but also teach them many new techniques and allow them to grow as musicians. Since this is a new program, not only will it benefit the students, but our supporting community. Music is a big part of our community and this will most definitely help them have something to be proud of. Go Eagles!
