Help Students Over the AP Exam Hurdle!

Help me give my students a paperback 5 Steps to a 5 AP Computer Science Principles to help them do well on the multiple-choice exam!

My Students

My high school is a Title I school with approximately 49% receiving free and/or reduced lunch. AP Computer Science Principles employs communication skills, develops problem solving and critical thinking skills which are reinforced through software applications. This is an elective class in which students are allowed to self-select for enrollment.

My students come from diverse backgrounds presenting a range of instructional challenges due to the ethnic, gender and linguistic ranges.

In addition, since my district no longer allows me to offer this class as a "seated course" those students who choose to take this class must take it in an online format. I want to strengthen my online students' success by providing them with a textbook to help them prepare for the AP exam. Additional relevant characteristics include these students’ socioeconomic status as well as their cultural backgrounds, taking their personal resources into account [how much can their parents spend to help them prepare for the AP exam] as I plan. I was pleased to win the 2018 AP Computer Science Principles Female Diversity Award due to the success [100% of my female students] have thus far scored a 3 or higher on this AP exam.

My Project

My wish for this project is to be able to purchase 20 copies of the paperback, 5 Steps to a 5 AP Computer Science Principles, for my students. Having a textbook in hand to reference and study at their leisure will help guarantee success for students who don't have access to the internet to study online or those who prefer an actual textbook to study with. My students are all now online [but still within my district -- some at high schools across the county]. My course is consistently offered in the Fall while the AP exam is always in May, this will provide students with an opportunity to review for the AP exam.
