My Students

My students are incredibly kind, energetic, and hard-working 6th graders who love coming to class and discovering their world through science. They show a thirst for learning and curiosity for things they cannot explain each day when they walk into the classroom.

My Project

Earth and Space Science will be integrated into our classroom by utilizing alternative agriculture crop production methods in our own hydroponic indoor garden "space" station. This project aims for kids to grow food in a soilless environment like that of a space station on Mars. As we learn about the red planet, students will learn about different soils and why some grounds are not suitable for growing food. Students will also learn about seed germination, photosynthesis, PH levels, nitrogen and carbon cycles, and alternative gardening methods that could be used in our land on Earth that became too polluted. This project helps kids discover Earth Science in a hands-on, first-hand experience!
