Help Students Build Their Physics Interactive Notebooks
My students need paper, tape, glue, and crayons for their physics interactive notebooks. Students are expected to have a table of contents, an alphabetized glossary, colorful notes, and creative left side pages.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students enter EBHS with an amazing community of educators that work together to meet the diverse needs of the community. 78% of the student population at East Boston are Latinos and 40% are English Language Learners.
My ninth graders come into high school with a thirst for knowledge and a motivation for learning.
They are hard working, care about their learning, and have a passion for science. Ninth graders are a part of the freshman academy where they are held to high standards and are guided to achieve academic, emotional, and social excellence.
My Project
Many urban schools do not access to new, up-to-date textbooks. With a lack of resources, students come into freshman physics making their own "textbook" throughout the school year. The book starts with an "about the author" page where students write about themselves and what excites them for freshman year of high school. It then has a table of contents and alphabetized glossary section. Because over 40% of students are English language learners, this glossary section is vital to their understanding of physics tier 3 words.
Students take pride in their notebooks as they learn how to take notes, be organized, and complete rigorous work to prepare them for the rest of their high school career.
The physics interactive notebook will have color coded glossaries and notes for students. The crayons will go towards students unpacking ideas they just learned in a creative way. Students need tape to tape in their fill-in-the-blank colored notes as well as prompts for the left side pages. Students put a lot of work into their notebooks and receive stamps as rewards for completing classwork.
