Mrs. Brock from Montgomery AL is requesting musical instruments through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need new strings, supplies, and rhythm books to help them reach their full potential as musicians!

I work at a very unique elementary school in Alabama. I call it "unique" for three reasons: 1) it is part traditional and part magnet, with about 52% of students receiving free lunch; 2) it offers 8 different arts programs to students, allowing them to discover and pursue their passion from a young age; and 3) it houses one of the only elementary public school strings programs in the state of Alabama, of which I am the very proud director.
Violin, viola, cello, and string bass-- in my classroom, students have the opportunity to play any of these instruments, and the continual growth of their talent and character amazes me day by day.
For my strings students, it has been a wonderful year of making music and growing--in our bodies, minds, hearts, and friendships. One of the highlights this year for many of my students was playing their instruments after I installed the new strings that generous donors helped us obtain through Donors Choose in January! Unfortunately, there are six students who still need new strings...but this is where you can help.
With your support, we can: 1) provide new strings to EVERY student that needs them, 2) provide students with small supplies they need for successful daily practice, and 3) give students books that will help them perform rhythms with greater confidence, thus opening a new world of musical possibilities for them.
With just six new sets of strings, those six beginning viola and violin students will be able to experience the same joy they have watched their classmates feel over the past couple of months. Your donations will also provide our classes with the small supplies they need to learn. For the first time, our second-grade bass player will be able to secure the end of his bass as he plays with a "rock stop" made especially for his instrument, rather than a cello. We will have more rosin to share so our bows can grip the strings as we play. We will have books that can help us learn new and more complicated rhythms every day, so we are able to play more challenging music with confidence.
These are supplies that will affect every student in our classroom every day, and we will always remember your support! Thank you!
